Tajine earthenware decorated 2 persons Ø 23 cm
Be inspired by the North African kitchen and use the traditional stew pot: the tagine. A tagine is made of red earthenware in which mainly stew dishes are prepared. Due to the conical lid, the dish is suitable for slowly stewing vegetables, meat, chicken or fish.
The advantage of the tajine is that little oil or other fats are needed to prepare dishes. This is because the earthenware absorbs the heat evenly and then retains it. Steam condenses against the lid and drips back, so that almost no water needs to be added to the dish. It is also a beautiful and practical dish to present dishes attractively on the table.
Before first use
To prevent the tagine from breaking, the following steps must be followed once:
- Immerse the tagine completely in water for 24 hours.
- Grease the inside of the dish and the lid with sunflower oil.
- Then place the tagine in a preheated oven at 180° degrees for fifteen minutes.
- The oil is absorbed into the ceramic, after which the tagine is ready for unlimited use.
When using
There is a simple step-by-step plan for cooking:
- Place the tagine on a low heat and pour in a small dash of oil.
- When the tagine is nice and hot, the meat, chicken or fish can be placed in it, followed by vegetables of your choice.
- Season everything and put a lid on the dish.
- Let it simmer for a while and stir occasionally.
- Serve the entire tagine on the table and enjoy.
- The tajine can be used for cooking on a gas stove, on the barbecue and in the oven. On induction it is recommended to use an induction adapter.
After use
- After use, the tagine must be allowed to cool slowly before it can be washed.
- Wash the tagine with a sponge or brush with soap and water and then let it dry thoroughly.
