Yerba Mate Green Tea
Yerba Mate is the national drink of Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay: an herbal tea with a fresh, slightly grassy character and a high caffeine content, making it a true alternative to coffee. Can be drunk hot or cold. Too bitter? Add some lemon or milk.
Traditional preparation in the gourd
Fill the gourd three-quarters full with yerba mate, cover the opening with your hand, and shake. Add a quarter cold water and steep for 2 minutes. Stir with the bombilla, top up with 80 °C hot water, and drink through the bombilla.
Preparation of 1 cup
1 full teaspoon of Yerba Mate Green Tea, pour over with 80 °C water, steep for 10 minutes.
