Mustard seed brown
Brown mustard seeds form the basis for black mustard. In the Indian kitchen, these are often added to dishes for the warm, nutty and spicy flavour. Think of stews, curries or masalas. The seeds can be used whole or ground.
Brown mustard seeds (Brassica nigra) come from the herbaceous plant in the Brassicaceae family that originates from the Mediterranean region.
Brown mustard seeds are attributed with several health-promoting properties:
- Promotes the burning of fats in the body
- Slows the development of existing cancer cells
- Prevents the production of new cancer cells
- Lowers blood pressure
- Anti-inflammatory
- Laxative
Store in a cool, dry place, shelf life is maximum 24 months.
