Moroccan meatballs with gravy and mash

Marokkaanse gehaktballetjes met jus en puree

Comfort food with a Moroccan twist! Creamy mashed potatoes, spicy meatballs, and a mouthwatering sauce. So simple. So full of flavor. The secret? Our herbs!

Number of persons: 4

Ingredients:

  • For the meatballs
    • 500 g minced meat (type of meat of your choice)
    • 25 g Keftamix from Moroccan Spicy Secrets
    • 50 ml olive oil from Moroccan Spicy Secrets
  • For the puree:
    • 1 kg mashed potatoes
    • 3 tablespoons butter
    • 120 ml warm milk
    • Puree mix from Moroccan Spicy Secrets
  • For the gravy:
    • 60 g butter
    • 1 onion
    • 1 clove of garlic
    • 50 g wheat flour
    • 480 ml water
    • 4 tablespoons sweet soy sauce
    • 1 tablespoon paprika powder
    • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
    • pinch of salt and pepper
  • Handful of parsley for garnish

Recipe for 4 people

1. Peel and boil the potatoes in water.

2. Marinate the ground meat with the kefta mix and olive oil. Roll into balls.

3. Briefly fry the meatballs over high heat in a pan with a little olive oil. Remove and set aside.

4. Melt the butter in the same pan and fry the finely chopped onion and garlic.

5. Add the wheat flour, stir well and fry for 1 minute.

6. Add 480 ml of water to the flour and stir continuously until the sauce thickens.

7. Add the ketjap manis, paprika powder, brown sugar, salt and pepper.

8. Place the meatballs back into the sauce and let them simmer for 5 minutes.

9. Meanwhile, mash the potatoes, add the butter and warm milk and mash until smooth.

10. Season with the Puree Mix.

11. Serve with a layer of mashed potatoes, the meatballs with gravy on top and garnish with fresh parsley.
